spit is an experimental dance performance that subverts the gaze, pulling audiences into an emotional journey where roles blur—as they shift, often unknowingly, between watching and being seen. Who gets to look? Who is expected to perform? spit challenges these roles.

At its core, spit asks: Where are our bodies safe? On stage, in the world, in motion, or in stillness—where can we be soft? Where can we rage? Where can we move only for ourselves? These questions unfold through shifting time and tone, tracing the emotional arc of a day over the hour-long performance—from the tender promise of sunrise to the shadows of sunset.

Central to the work is the act of spitting—typically read as aggressive, sexual or repulsive—reimagined here as a radical gesture of resistance. Through hyper-intentional movement, light and sound, spit transforms the stage into a space for critical reflection and inquiry.

spit is not a dance performance for easy consumption. The work invites audiences to sit with discomfort, to notice their own gaze, and to question what it means to witness—and be witnessed.
