not for glory – a new dance theatre performance exploring the competitive traditions of Scottish Highland dance, Irish dance, and bagpipe music. Former competitive champions Jack Anderson, Charlotte Mclean and Malin Lewis queer and reclaim the traditions they grew up in, questioning identity, conformity, heritage, and politics. Blending nostalgia with innovation, they balance reverence for tradition with a drive for inclusion and activism. Recalling humour and heartache, relentless training and resilience built on the lonely competition stage, they offer a radical traditional dance, a song of solidarity, to a diverse contemporary world.
